About Graham L. Banes

Dr Graham L. Banes studied zoology at the University of British Columbia, Canada, before graduating from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. For the past seven years, he has been frequently based in the Tanjung Puting National Park in Indonesia, earning a PhD from the University of Cambridge for his studies of wild Bornean orang-utans. Dr Banes is a Postdoctoral Scientist at Germany's Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, a Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an Adjunct Professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, and a Research Associate at the nearby Henry Vilas Zoo. He is the author of The Kingfisher Encyclopedia of Life and lives between Leipzig, Shanghai and Madison.
